Volunteers needed.

I am stilll crying out for more volunteers.

In order to be a volunteer you will need to;
Have an interest in animals and conservation
Understand that working with animals is not about cuddling the ‘cute ones’

It’s about cleaning them out, ensuring that they do not become humanised, cleaning the environment around them, washing up, doing laundry, sweeping floors, sorting out other enclosures, thinking of ways to make their environments more natural and less sterile, thinking of enrichment ideas whilst they are in with us being cared for, not speaking in the rooms that the animals directly leave from.

it’s about recognising that animal as an individual and treating it as such, ensuring that all the daily recording is done on each animal’s chart accurately and noting when they need medication and reporting if they are poorly.

It’s tidying storage areas so that food is stored and labeled correctly.
it’s discussing with the owner and other volunteers the animals and their preferences.
it’s about interacting with peers and enjoying the work with other like minded people.

If this sounds like something you can do, then please sign up here. We are looking for people for every day of the week and weekend. If you can only do a few hours once a week that’s fine, as long as we know which once a week it is!

Let’s be realistic, working with animals is not about the glamour, prestige or drama. It’s not Tiktok – although we can make Tiktoks… working with animals is a life choice, a sometimes very sweaty, frizzy haired life choice that you wonder why on earth you chose that… but it ultimately comes down to wanting to be part of the survival of many British native animals.

We make hard choices daily here at the rescue, but all in the best interests of the animals. Human’s coming second (aside from if its your family)
