Support Us

This is where you can make a difference to the running of the rescue. Contrary to popular opinion it’s not free to treat an animal at the vets, so we pay for medication. Our vets kindly donate their time and expertise to ensuring all animals are treated and given the best chance possible.

We also pay for all their food, the areas that they live in, the cages, aviaries, hutches, tanks, aquariums etc, unfortunately with the time we live in and the cost of utilities we are going to have to take a portion to pay for electricity to run the incubators, heat pads, fridge, microwave and hot water!

How Your Donations Make a Difference

Every penny you give goes directly towards the care and rehabilitation of the animals at our centre. Here’s just some of what your support helps to provide:

For Hedgehogs & Small Mammals

  • £5 – a box of disposable vinyl gloves to keep our volunteers safe.
  • £15 – a 2kg bag of kitten kibble for hungry hoglets.
  • £16 – 400g of specialist formula, vital for feeding tiny mammals.
  • £19 – concentrated disinfectant to keep incubators clean and safe.
  • £29 – 12 tins of puppy mousse, perfect for weaning hoglets onto solid food.
  • £160 – the average cost to care for a hoglet from intake to release (excluding centre costs).
  • £630 – a Brinsea TLC 40 incubator, providing life-saving warmth for hoglets and other baby animals.

For Birds & Other Wildlife

  • £7 – a 1kg bag of frozen sprats (we use at least two bags a week).
  • £7 – a bag of mealworms for wild birds.
  • £10 – a 10kg box of frozen day-old chicks, fed to owls, foxes and other carnivores (one box every two weeks).
  • £10 – two tubs of wax worms for a variety of birds.
  • £20 – a 20kg bag of pigeon corn (lasts around 7 days).
  • £23 – specialist hand-rearing food for young pigeons.
  • £25 – a 25kg bag of bird seed (enough for a week).
  • £50 – 20kg of kitten kibble (lasts around 2 weeks).
  • £65 – 5kg of specialist hand-rearing food for songbirds.
  • £80 – fresh fruit and vegetables to feed the animals for a week.
  • £115 – 24kg of cat kibble (lasts 2 weeks).

Essential Running Costs

  • £3,000 a year – electricity to power incubators, heaters and equipment.
  • £1,600 a year – vital supplies such as disinfectant, PPE for volunteers and medications.

    Your Legacy

Leave us a Gift in your Will

All of our funding comes from our friends and supporters in one way or another, whether through sponsorship, donations or developing fundraising activities.

When making your Will, you can also choose to leave a gift in your Will to The Littlest Wildlife Hotel. This allows our charity to plan ahead and continue to grow our wildlife rescue and rehabilitation centre to cover the high demand for our services in North Devon.

    Why make a Will?

Your Will allows you to appropriate funds to your exact wishes, however, nearly two-thirds of adults have not made a Will. Any gift in your Will is also exempt from Inheritance Tax.

When making a Will you should consult a solicitor. Friends may recommend one or you can check the internet. The services of a solicitor help ensure your wishes are carried out according to your wishes. Check the fee – it will probably be less than you expected.

Please consider leaving a gift in your will to the Littlest Wildlife Hotel
